So believe it or not, today I want to talk about something that IS NOT LFR related. And for once, something that is NOT about the self entitled "elitists".
I want to talk about gearing and what you do when you get that gear. If there has been one thing I have learned in WoW: RNG is a bitch.
Ever since Burning Crusade, I have been in the habit of whenever I get a piece of gear with a gem slot, I gem it. Why? Because you never know when the RNG gods are going to vote in your favor. RNG is the random number generator. It effects almost every single thing in WOW: be it dps, to how much a mob is going to hit you, to if you are going to get a piece of gear.
You are not 100% guaranteed to get a piece of gear every flippin time you walk into a raid, therefore you do the intelligent thing- even if the item is a damned blue and put a gem in it.
Say you get a blue 463 item with gem slots in it (or even a piece of 476 pvp gear). If you aren't going to bother putting something in that gem slot, then why the hell are you bothering trying to get raid gear (be it LFR gear or above)?
Obviously you don't understand what the gem slots are for: if you are a dps, you gem it and your dps goes up; if you are a tank you gem it and it helps your survivability; if you are a healer, you gem it and it helps your throughput.
There's always a genius that comes onto the forums that complain that they can't get into a raid group. Here is what (smart) people look at:
Gems, enchants, reforges (if you are dps I want to see if you are hit/expertise capped), and finally ilvl.
I don't give a damn about your item level for lower raid content (well I do to a point- 460-470 is fine for MSV). If you cannot be bothered to gem the gear you have, I can't be bothered to take you. I'd rather that piece of gear go to someone that gives a damn about their toon.
Don't go crying to the forums because someone wouldn't invite you because you can't be bothered to do these things.
Now complaining because some ijit wants a gear level astronomically higher than the content itself- okay I get the bitch there. But when I look at your gear and see you haven't bothered with taking care of the shit you have ("I'm waiting til something else drops"), I am going to call you out on it.
In other words: STOP BEING FRIGGING LAZY.
