I figure I ought to copy/paste this here before the devs decide to delete it on the forums:
“The most important things are the hardest things to say. They are the things you get ashamed of because words diminish your feelings - words shrink things that seem timeless when they are in your head to no more than living size when they are brought out.”- Stephen King
My fellow Forumers and Blizzard Devs,
As many of you know, I've been on these forums for many, many years at this point. We've had our ups and downs, our arguments and agreements- our moments. It is with deep regret that I must inform you all the it is now time for me to exit the building.
Yes, I am leaving the World of Warcraft and the forums. Will I be back? Time will tell.
Many of you know my complaints with this expac. Heck, I'm sure you all have gotten sick and tired of me being in every flying debate by now- so I will try to make my explanation of why I am leaving short: I don't agree with some of Blizzard's recent decisions as of late.
While I did enjoy the leveling experience of Warlords, that's honestly about the only thing I did enjoy. Being on second shift, I've basically retired from raiding this expac (heck, I haven't even set foot into BRF LFR). I was starting to get bored with raiding in MoP though. I miss actually having an interesting plot around the raids. ToT- now that was the last interesting raid I think WoW had.
I also miss being able to explore in the way I personally prefer. See, I was never one of those types that just mounted up and set myself in a certain direction on a flying mount. I normally just went to where ever my fancy was that day (normally no where in particular). I'd find something interesting, land, and then hoof around the area I wanted to check out. That is obviously out the window from Warlords on forward if the devs have their way.
There are many other things I have complaints about, I will put them in my blog if anyone is interested but I'd rather not bore the TL;DR crowd since they're already bored with this.
I've defended just as many people as I have complained on these forums. I've even given plenty of advice over the years (I once wrote a resto shaman guide for MoP). So I'm going to leave some tidbits of advice:
To the forumers:
Put yourself into someone elses shoes before typing that reply. I have always tried to do just that with every post I have ever written here.
Just because someone doesn't agree with you, that does not make them a troll. By now, many people here should understand that. I don't think I have outright ever called anyone a troll here that disagreed with me. I have called out trolls though when they were obviously trolling though.
To the wpvp crowd: when you want to blame something on lack of wpvp, mayhap look at the full picture: not just part of it.
To the PvE crowd: Heroic and above raiders: stop looking at casuals as if they are a threat. Also casual does not equate to bad. Casuals: stop looking at heroic and above raiders as if they all hold the same opinion of you. Heroic and above does not equate to total douche.
To the devs:
Not every idea that looks good on paper is a good idea. Garrisons sounded like a good idea, but to be honest, they are boring. No flying probably sounded like a good idea, but it's costing you subscribers (not the full reason people are leaving but part of it).
Respect your customers, they are the reason your company has been so successful over the years. Somewhere between Cata and WoD, you guys forgot that. It's very prevalent in the way you handled the whole “No flying” thing over the last two years.
Also, to both the forumers and the devs: not all player input is good input, but the devs and the forumers should know what good player input looks like by now. (Note: “Nerf hunters cause they can move while dpsing” is not good player input. It just shows you don't know how the class works.)
I know, this has started to become the typical long Juju post, but I can guarantee that it will be the last long Juju post on the forums. For those of you that have managed to get to this point: I commend you (I'm sort of the Stephen King of the forums- pretty wordy).
No, you can't have my stuff. The goblin in me might need them eventually. I might be back, but I might not be. Depends on where life takes me.
Speaking of Sai King, I have a two more quotes I'd like to share:
“Memories are contrary things; if you quit chasing them and turn your back, they often return on their own.”
And finally:
"Go then, there are other worlds than these."- The Gunslinger
Long days and pleasant nights, I will miss you all.
Jujubiju, Twileki
(Note: I am on twitter @taheen74 for anyone that wants to add me. My sub officially ends on June 7th.)
Yes, I will continue to maintain this website.
Additional comments:
Things I will remember fondly:
1. The one time when leveling up in BC that made me danged near fall out of my chair. I was about to cross a river when I hear a giant "Roar" in my headphones and the next thing I know, a gargantuan creature from the Black lagoon thing popped up in front of me. (Yes, this made me actually scream in real life.)
2. Laughing so hard during the XT fight that I kept wiping our raid group. That was the day I had to stop having the volume on in game.
3. Downing the Lich King after trying to finish ICC for a year on the last weekend of the Lich King expac. I was still on third shift that year and all of my raiding had been done in mostly pug's.
4. When I got flying on Twileki. I spent an entire month flying around in the BC areas.
5. Meeting my first friend during BC.
6. Suddenly realizing one day that my realm decided I was the "Trade Chat Mom" because I had a tendency to break up fights.
7. Helping a Spanish speaking hunter back in Cata using nothing but the google translator. Hopefully I helped him quite a bit.
8. When my (now) ex used to log onto WoW every day after work, just to hit on me. And the many times I either put him on ignore or my special "Shut up" rank (just for him) when I was a guild master.
9. All of the amazing people I have met over the years. A lot of them have gone on to other things, but I remember them fondly.
10. The time I actually had a "huntard" moment while in a Cata dungeon and backed up into a bunch of mobs that were waiting for us during a boss fight (Grim Batol dragon boss fight- you know the mobs I'm talking about).
11. All the interesting arguments I've had with certain people here on the forums over the years (Alphadruid, I may not like your opinions, but at least we could argue respectfully to a degree).
12. The very first time I set foot on Azeroth during Vanilla- I automatically fell in love with this game.
There's a lot more, but I'm not going to bore you guys with all of them. Just getting some last words in before I can't post anymore in 5 hours.
